NEW Generic Adventure Guide

Coming hopefully in 2012 is the new long awaited Generic Adventure Site Guide skills program for Adventure Guides who up till now had not had a program to do, simply because their adventure discipline had never had a program written for it.

This Skills program is for the Guide who is specialising in a certain area of expertise within adventure site guide. It can be used for all adventure based activities, Bungee Jumping, Kite Boarding, Surfing, Canopy Trails, Mountain Biking, etc. including paddling and mountaineering according to the rules of combination as described below. HOWEVER, Paddling and Mountaineering can still use the other existing specific skills programmes.

We hope to be able to start offering this program from about the end of 2012

The program consists of:

  • US – 335816 – Conduct a guided adventure experience - L4 C8
  • US – 246740 – Care for customers - L4 C3
  • US – 335801 – Conduct a tourist guiding activity - L4 C8
  • US – 255914 – Minimise and manage safety and emergency incidents - L4 C6
  • US – 262317 – Lead participants through an outdoor recreation and adventure activity - L4 C10

Plus 5 credits from:

  • US – 262246 – Set up and operate a camping site - L4 C5
  • US – 335803 – Research and design a guided experience at a prominent tourism site - L4 C5
  • US – 262320 – Manage and organise groups - L4 C10
  • US – 262305 – Plan and implement minimum environmental impact practices - L4 C5

Plus:

  • Adventure specialist field activity choice to conduct a guiding experience in specialisation area
  • Where an adventure specialisation exists – we will use that to cover this last section, but where it does not exist we will just apply all the above in context of the activity.

Minimum Credit Value: 40 Credits
